Every season, designer Gary Aspden unveils a new adidas SPZL collection, drawing inspiration from the rich history of adidas. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of SPZL, he's releasing a Pre-Spring collection on April 4, 2024. For the unveiling, actor and rapper Ashley Walters, known for his role as 'Dushane' in the series Top Boy, shines as the face of the campaign. The campaign showcases a diverse range of clothing and sneakers, all of which will be available for purchase at adidas and selected stores.
Ashley commented on the collaboration: 'It was such an honour to be a part of this campaign. adidas is a brand that I have always aligned with throughout my career, and the Spezial range has only reinforced my love. 10 years of greatness, inclusivity, and connection with culture. Here’s to many more.'
SPZL Footwear
Just like in previous seasons, the adidas SPZL Pre-Spring collection will feature various clothing pieces and sneakers. Seven new designs will be introduced for signature silhouettes. Firstly, two new colorways for the adidas Gazelle SPZL will be dropped, one in cream and white with shimmering gold accents, and the other entirely in black.
Two archival silhouettes have received an upgrade, with the adidas Handball transformed into a 'Pro' variant. While the silhouette's base remains unchanged, suede overlays have been added to the design. Additionally, the Wensley SPZL makes a comeback after its last appearance in 2017, still featuring its characteristic fuzzy suede on the mudguard and heel.
In addition to the familiar silhouettes, two new models will also be released. The adidas Moston Super draws inspiration from the 1970s of the Three Stripes. Additionally, the Whitworth SPZL is inspired by the Quesence, Trezoid, and Clipper.
Last but not least, the adidas adilette SPZL, previously available in white and navy blue colorways. Now, the silhouette will also be released in black.
SPZL Apparel
In addition to footwear, the collection will also include apparel, with the star of the collection being the iconic Todmorden Smock jacket. The jacket first dropped in spring/summer 2021 and sold out immediately. For the Pre-Spring collection, the jacket will be available in two new colors: navy and white.
Additionally, two other lightweight jackets perfect for spring - the Trentham and the Wingrove - will be released. The collection also comes with a matching Angelzarke tracksuit jacket and pants. Finally, the clothing line is rounded off with the Rossendale Short, a polo shirt, and the Lytham T-shirt.
Complete the look with accessories like the Brinscall bag and a Mod Trefoil cap.
