Nike 1960s


The first retail store of Blue Ribbon Sports was opened in Santa Monica, California in 1966 by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight.

Nike 1970s


After adopting the name of the Greek goddess of victory, Nike, Inc. was established in 1971. In 1971, Nike released its first shoe, simply named "Nike", setting the stage for a remarkable future. In 1972, Nike introduced the iconic Swoosh logo, the first shoe with the emblem. In 1978, Nike introduced the Air Tailwind, which revolutionized athletic footwear with its air cushioning technology.

The '80s were an era of game-changing partnerships and innovations for Nike. In 1982, the brand signed a deal with basketball prodigy Michael Jordan, resulting in the legendary Air Jordans. Nike's iconic slogan, "Just Do It," was introduced in 1987, inspiring countless athletes to embrace determination and perseverance. The new Nike Air Max 1 design had a huge impact on the world because of its visible Air cushioning, the Air Bubble.

Nike 1990


The Nike Air Huarache, which featured an innovative design and a neoprene inner sock, was another iconic shoe released during the 1990s. Air Jordan XI, which is considered one of the most sought-after sneakers of all time, was released in 1995. In 1997, Nike introduced the "Shox" technology, which provided spring-like columns for enhanced cushioning.

Nike introduced the "Nike Air Presto" in 2000, a shoe with a sock-like fit in 2000. It was Carolyn Davidson who designed the Nike Swoosh logo in 1971. As a graphic design student at Portland State University, she received only $35 for her design. Nike gave her a gold Swoosh ring and undisclosed amounts of Nike stock in 1983 for her iconic design. Nike's Swoosh is an excellent example of a simple logo having a powerful impact.
