Among all the SpongeBob SquarePants releases over the past few years, from Crocs to Nike Kyrie and even BAPE Stas, the next release might be the most fitting yet. Together with adidas, the cartoon character is unveiling the Stan Smith Freizeit, a sneaker inspired by the shoes from the series (yes, the squeaky ones).
The adidas Stan Smith Freizeit was first teased in September. The model features a chunky design that somewhat resembles recent collaborations with CLOT. The Freizeit combines the signature Stan Smith upper, with perforation holes on the mid-panel and a rounded toe.
The thick outsole provides extra grip and gives the sneaker a subtle, almost formal appearance. On the tongue, SpongeBob replaces Stan Smith’s usual face. There’s also a reference to the resident of Bikini Bottom on the insole.
A perfect translation of SpongeBob's iconic shoes: glossy black and functional, ideal for his work in the Krusty Krab kitchen. Let’s just hope this version is quiet.
The SpongeBob SquarePants x adidas Stan Smith Freizeit does not yet have an official release date. However, the pair is most likely expected in 2025 at adidas and selected retailers.
