Nike Zoom in the Spotlight ✨💫 the Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski

Nike SB Stefan Janoski and the Nike Zoom Technology

For over 10 years, the signature shoe has been developed by pro skater Stefan Janoski and transformed into a great pair for the skate park or everyday life. Even when updating the shoe, the designers have made sure that the pair stays true to its roots.

Since the relaunch of Nike SB in 2002, with the help of Sandy Bodecker, Nike SB has become increasingly popular not only in the skateboarding community, but now also on the street. The newer models have joined the Nike Zoom category, with just the addition of Nike Zoom technology.

Nike Zoom stands for speed, responsiveness and control. All these things are combined in Nike's innovative Zoom technology. The explosive and innovative cushioning system is designed to be fast and flexible.

The technology consists of compressed air and tightly spun fibres to absorb shock and convert it into fast movements. It also puts less pressure on muscles, joints and the thigh muscles.

Stefan Janoski

Pro skateboarder Stefan Janoski has been an integral part of the Nike SB team since the beginning. In 2009, he became the second rider to have the opportunity to design and create his own signature release. It turned out that the Zoom Janoski was radically different from the Dunks and tech-heavy shoes like the Tre and E-cue that had come before. It was also the first time a sole in a Nike SB shoe received a vulcanised sole unit.

Stefan Janoski collaborated with renowned SB designer James Arizumi to create a shoe with a skate deck-inspired aesthetic that fully represents the Janoski personality. Since then, the sneakers have become one of the most successful Nike SB releases of all time.

Because Janoski's shoes take the traditional idea of a "skate shoe" and make it very simple, it's relatively easy to make small changes to the shoe that make a big difference. Therefore, Nike SB has experimented limitlessly with different versions over the years, both on a lifestyle and performance basis.

There have been some simpler updates, such as lengthening the upper to create an ankle-hugging mid-top, to more impactful changes like replacing the midsole unit to incorporate both Air Max and Free technology.
