The Air Max 90, which is the basis of the Surplus Pack, was first released 30 years ago and therefore celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. In addition to that, the Air Max 90 was originally designed by the legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, which makes the shoe even more iconic.

The details of the Surplus pack

After that quick history lesson, we start with a little breakdown through the color ways. The Air Max 90 Surplus version comes in three different colourways, a beige called 'desert camo', a black called 'black' and a dark green called 'Khaki Sequoia'. Except for a small detail on the toe box, the shoes are always one colour. On the 'desert camo' Air Max, a small part of the toe box is in safety orange. On the dark green, one part is in lemon venom. However, the black sneaker is a little bit different in the construction. No other colors are on the black infraded upper. Only the Nike Swoosh is orange, which gives the sneaker some colourful accents.

The upper part of the Surplus Pack is made of Tech Tuff and therefore much more durable. Tech Tuff is a seamless material, which makes the shoes completely waterproof. The base and overlays of the Surplus Edition are out of Cordula materials. This material is highly durable and is often used for suitcases and backpacks. This is another reason, why the three Air Max are made for any weather and have a long durability.

On the toe box area there is a special synthetic material. Another action, that strengthens the sneaker. In addition to that, a modified sole for the new Air Max 90, gives the sneaker better traction. The pull tab at the heel completes the sneaker.

These were all the special features of the Air Max from the Surplus Pack. I have to say, that Nike put in a lot of work, to create the perfect shoe for bad weather. So you can have a better look at the details, here are some more detailed pictures of all three Colorways.
