Heritage in the Details: Nike reimagines football classics with the Air Max 90 'T90 Zest' and 'Bright Citrus Hypervenom'

Nike brings us some nostalgia! The Air Max 90 ‘T90 Zest’ and ‘Bright Citrus Hypervenom’ draw direct inspiration from the golden era of football footwear. The pack, featuring these two colorways of the classic Air Max 90, is paying homage to two of the most influential football boots ever created: the Total 90 Laser and the Hypervenom Phantom.

When Football Meets Air Max...

There is a lot of nostalgia in the details. The first silhouette in the collection is the Air Max 90 ‘T90 Zest’. Fans of the mid-2000s will immediately recognise the striking yellow and black colour palette, famously worn by legends such as Wayne Rooney and Luís Figo.

However, the tribute goes beyond just the colours. Nike has also incorporated the technical DNA of the original boot into the sneaker’s design. The forefoot features the radial precision-strike patterns, mimicking the technology that was once designed to provide extra power and swerve on the pitch.

Complementing the T90 is the Air Max 90 ‘Bright Citrus’, inspired by the Hypervenom Phantom I. Launched in 2013 as the successor to the T90 line, the Hypervenom football boot was defined by its agility and the innovative NikeSkin upper.

This Air Max 90 translates that history through a unique honeycomb-textured mesh, capturing the look and feel of the original boot’s technical surface.

Both models retain the classic Air Max 90 features, including the visible Air unit and the signature waffle outsole. By combining these technical football elements with a lifestyle icon, Nike creates a sophisticated look for enthusiasts of both subcultures.
