Amid all the hustle and teasers of Paris Fashion Week, which took place last week, there were a few releases that caught our attention. The Comme des Garçons x Air Jordan 11 is one of them. The collaboration will be released in two monochrome colorways: black and white.
The release was showcased in the Japanese fashion label’s showroom and teased by @yvkiabe. Comme des Garçons has collaborated with Nike multiple times in the past, but never before on the Air Jordan 11.
Why the brand chose this particular silhouette isn’t clear. Last year marked the model’s 30th anniversary, so it could be a delayed release. Or perhaps the Air Jordan 11 is simply one of Rei Kawakubo’s favorite silhouettes. That’s also possible.
The sneaker arrives in an “All Black” colorway, constructed from premium leather with patent leather details. “Comme des Garçons Homme Plus” is embossed on the leather at the heel, while co-branding appears on the insoles. The white colorway features the same details.
The patent leather extends all the way to the midsole, a design choice that has never appeared on the Air Jordan 11 before. It’s not yet known exactly when the sneaker will be released, but it is expected sometime this year.
