A sneaker that transcends the loafer trend, both literally and figuratively. The Air Max RK61 Dress Shoe was developed in collaboration with Air Afrique, a Paris-based label drawing inspiration from the now-defunct Pan-African airline of the same name.
The Most Elegant Air Max Ever
In today’s sneaker landscape, where hybrid silhouettes are overtaking classic models, the collaboration with Air Afrique couldn’t have come at a better time. Among all the loafers, ballerinas, and clogs, the Air Max RK61 Dress Shoe may be the best blend of style, functionality, and a touch of cult.
The sneaker combines influences from the Air Max Sunder, which debuted in the early 2000s, with traditional African moccasin design. The upper consists of three leather panels and a zipper running over the lace panel. Air Afrique’s signature jacquard pattern appears on the lining and insoles.
A chic upper sits atop a brand-new Air Max sole designed like a dress shoe, complete with welt construction and a brushed finish. The green Air units in the heel reference jet engines and add a fresh twist to the shoe.

Morse code spelling “Air Afrique” runs along the outsole, a subtle nod to the world of aviation. The name RK61 references the airline’s original flight code (RK) and its founding year, 1961.
Arguably the most elegant Air Max sneaker we’ve ever had and likely ever will. Air Afrique delivers a stylish release, enlisting none other than footballer Didier Drogba. It doesn’t get better than this.
