Patta opens flagshipstore in Lagos

Amsterdam-based streetwear brand Patta opened its doors in Lagos, Nigeria on March 30, 2024. The brand already had branches in the European fashion cities of Amsterdam, Milan, and London. In 2024, Patta will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and looks to celebrate with the opening of Patta Lagos.

Patta seems to be expanding into Africa. The recent Air Jordan 4 Retro campaign was shot in bustling Lagos. With the slogan "Patta got love for Lagos," the streetwear brand paid tribute to the city. Less than a week later, Patta announced they would open a store in the same metropolis on March 30, 2024.

The Nigerian city has previously been the focus of several of Patta's campaigns. In 2018 and 2019, the Patta Homecoming Capsule collection was released, whose proceeds went to the Lagos skatepark project. In the week before the official announcement of the opening, co-founder Edson Sabajo posted a photo in which he could be seen in Lagos with a Patta billboard in the background.

The branch in Lagos marks an important milestone in their journey, according to the brand. With this move, the Amsterdam-based label aims to deepen its roots in the creative landscape of West Africa. The store opened in style with Uncle Bubu, Yosa, Kazeem, and Weareallchemicals behind the decks.
