The History of Clarks

In 1825, brothers Cyrus and James Clark came up with the idea of designing a slipper. The silhouettes were made from leftover sheepskin in order to minimize waste. The groundbreaking idea combined innovation and craftsmanship - core values the brand still upholds today.

The Clark brothers modernised their manufacturing process by investing in the Singer sewing machine, which was a ground-breaking piece of technology at the time. This accelerated the process and created multiple runs.

Cyrus and James design their first shoe that embraces the shape of the foot.

Clarks focused on a new target market: women. At the time, women's shoes showed no skin, something the duo wanted to change.
