The adidas Adizero Goukana, first unveiled during LA Fashion Week, is making its debut this week. Designed by the creative team at adidas Originals in Los Angeles, the sneaker fully embraces the runner aesthetic. The Adizero Goukana OGLA debuts in a vibrant yellow colorway.
Ode to Los Angeles
The Goukana was previously spotted on the feet of NFL player Travis Hunter and immediately drew attention thanks to its bold colorway and chunky outsole. It also made its big-stage debut during LA Fashion Week in late March.
Designers like Baba Jagne, Bishme Cromartie, Kelly Hsieh, House of Gray, House of Aama, and ECÉ Designs gave a fresh, modern twist to adidas Originals during the runway show on March 23.
With a perfect mix of sportswear and streetwear, they showcased their individual styles inspired by LA’s vibrant, artistic, and diverse culture. The Adizero Goukana was the highlight of the show and was released shortly after at the adidas store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles—further affirming the sneaker’s LA-rooted DNA.
The adidas Adizero Goukana combines a chunky, thick sole with the design lines of the 2008 adidas Adizero Adios. The LA team drew inspiration from the city’s dynamic energy and diversity. The thick, elevated sole is a clear nod to the racing model worn by Haile Gebrselassie when he broke the world record at the 2008 Berlin Marathon—especially recognizable in its iconic bright yellow color.
