Where AWAKE NY previously had the honor of debuting the ASICS GEL-NYC, it is now HAL STUDIOS’ turn to introduce the second version of the silhouette. The release combines advanced sportswear technology with a conceptual design approach, inspired by 1990s New York.
Australian HAL STUDIOS is collaborating with ASICS once again. In the past, the duo has worked together on silhouettes such as the ASICS GEL-1130 and the GEL-Kayano 20. For their next collaboration, a new variant of the GEL-NYC, which originally debuted in 2023, will be released.
The collaboration, titled “The Architecture of Everyday Life,” comes in two colorways: 'Shaolin ’93' and 'Queens ’94.' The design is inspired by the quiet, industrial structures of New York. The sneaker incorporates colors from scaffolding, steel beams, raw concrete, and oxidized metal into its colorways.

From studios and record shops to neighborhood streets and late-night gatherings, the broader cast of the campaign includes Throwing Fits, A$AP Twelvyy, Lichen, Malcolm Ransome, and Shane Davis of Public Records. Together, they form a cross-section of the communities that shape the city.
The ASICS SportStyle GEL-NYC™ 2.0 SSHS will be available worldwide starting January 16, 2026.
