After a season in which many new creative directors made their debut at major fashion houses, but with very few women among them, the appointment of Grace Wales Bonner as the new menswear director at Hermès feels like a breath of fresh air.
And this week, the British-Jamaican designer is also releasing a new collection with adidas.
The collection reaffirms Bonner’s central role in the dialogue between sport, culture, and contemporary luxury. The campaign, shot by Chris Rhodes, features Gene Gallagher, Alva Claire, Shim Mheuka, and Bebe Parnell wearing adidas sportswear classics, each reinterpreted through the lens of Wales Bonner.
The collaboration introduces football shirts, tracksuits, intarsia vests, and quilted jackets in shades of red, lavender, and navy, complemented by cream and gray tones. Following sneaker releases such as the Samba and Superstar, the latter also making a return, all eyes are now on the Karintha Lo.
The sneaker features a low-profile silhouette that fits snugly around the foot. It will be released in three colorways, though it’s the Sequin 'Dark Brown' version that truly steals the show. As the name suggests, this pair is covered from top to bottom in shimmering sequins. The other two colorways, 'Core Black' and 'Blue', both feature soft satin uppers.
Also featured in the lineup are the adidas Japan in a 'Purple' colorway and the Superstar (once again) in crocodile leather.
