Nike is reviving the Baltoro, a classic sneaker from the 1990s. A sneaker that, in today’s sneaker landscape, where one classic after another is being revived, hits the nail on the head. And what better way to bring back an OG than with the help of Stüssy?
Back from the past
Stüssy and Nike have been collaborating for some time. Last year, for example, they revisited the LD-1000, another original release that was specifically returned for this collaboration. For the next collab, the Baltoro is being reintroduced. A release that may seem unexpected at first glance, but upon closer inspection, makes perfect sense.
The Nike Baltoro was introduced in the ’90s as part of Nike’s All Conditions Gear (ACG) line, aimed at conquering the outdoor world. At the time, the model didn’t become an icon like the Air Mowabb or Air Mada, but it did gain a small cult following among fans of sturdy boot-style sneakers.
The Baltoro last appeared in 2005, in a colorful release reminiscent of the BAPE STA trend of that period. Now, the model returns in its classic silhouette, in no less than four colorways: ‘Light British Tan,’ ‘Safety Orange,’ ‘Black,’ and ‘Beige.’ Some colorways are expected to be exclusive to Stüssy.

The Safety Orange and Light British Tan colorways combine rough suede with a mesh base. The ‘Black’ and ‘Beige’ versions, on the other hand, feature leather overlays. Subtle Stüssy branding appears on the heel.
In addition to the sneakers, the duo is also releasing a clothing collection, consisting of zip-up hoodies and sweatpants, similar to what we’ve seen in previous Stüssy x Nike releases. The collection is complemented by fleece jackets and textured vests, creating a fully coordinated look.
