It may well be the biggest plot twist in the fashion scene: Kim Kardashian replacing her ex-husband Kanye West, now known as Ye, in the world of sneakers. Kanye turned the industry upside down with YEEZY under adidas; Kim is now doing the same, but with Nike.
First came her own apparel collection, and now, at last, her first sneaker release.
For this debut drop, Kim K puts her spin on the Nike Rift, a unique silhouette with a split toe that resembles a tabi. Originally introduced in 1995, the model draws inspiration from barefoot runners in Kenya. Its name is a direct reference to Kenya’s Great Rift Valley.
While the silhouette initially gained popularity mainly in Japan, the Rift has since found a wider global audience. A NikeSKIMS release is only set to accelerate that momentum.
The NikeSKIMS Rift Mesh elevates the standard model with a streamlined, seamless construction. As the name suggests, the pair features mesh, but with a more premium feel compared to the materials used in standard releases.
A soft heel counter provides added comfort, while the NikeSKIMS logo is placed on the midfoot strap.
Release
The sneaker-sandal will be released in three monochrome colorways: 'Black', 'Archaeo Brown', and 'Velvet Brown'. All three colorways are set to launch on January 26, 2026, via Nike, SKIMS, and selected retailers.
