Running is more popular than ever these days. The Nike Running App is working overtime, and Coach Bennett doesn't seem to know what a rest day is anymore. Whether you're just starting your first few kilometers or running your umpteenth marathon this summer, Nike has the right shoe for every runner.
The Nike Vomero 18 and Pegasus Premium are two great examples of that. Sneakerjagers’ own Mats and Lotte laced up their (running) shoes and put both models to the test for you.
Run
It’s 9:00 in the morning when Lotte and Mats meet at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam. Both are dressed in running gear and wearing bright pink running shoes – Lotte is wearing the Vomero 18, and Mats has on the Pegasus Premium.

With the warm morning sun and a fresh breeze, the two plan their route. Mats, the more experienced runner of the duo, opts for a 10-kilometer distance. Lotte keeps it modest and goes for 5 kilometers.
Nike Vomero 18
The Nike Vomero 18 is one of the most popular running shoes right now, and for good reason. The model combines lightweight ZoomX foam with responsive ReactX foam in the midsole for maximum cushioning. The updated tread pattern ensures a smooth transition from heel to toe.

Designed for daily runs, the Vomero 18 is suitable for both beginner and experienced runners. The upper is made from specialized mesh, and the soft tongue and lining provide comfort with every step. Pods on the outsole add extra agility.
The technologies in the Vomero 18 speak for themselves, but its looks also contribute to its success. The shoe features a dynamic design with a striking, wavy sole. Available in a range of playful colorways, the Vomero 18 is a perfect choice for anyone who likes to start their day with a run.
Nike Pegasus Premium
Mats is running in the Pegasus Premium – the most responsive Pegasus to date. The model features a sleek design with breathable mesh and uses a triple-layer cushioning system made up of Nike’s most popular technologies: ZoomX foam, Air Zoom units, and ReactX foam.

The full-length sole is made of ZoomX foam, Nike’s most responsive material. The Air Zoom unit running from toe to heel delivers optimal bounce, while ReactX foam contributes to a smooth, balanced running experience. The modified waffle-pattern outsole provides excellent grip.
The Pegasus Premium excels in both performance and design. Its silhouette is reminiscent of the Nike Air Max 2013 and Air Max 97, which also makes it suitable as a lifestyle sneaker—though that hardly does justice to the performance this shoe offers.
Verdict
After a quick chat and a few stretches, the two set off on their run. Mats turns right, Lotte heads left—both in eye-catching, bright pink colorways of Nike’s most popular running shoes. Just a few meters in, a few things already stand out.

Lotte: “The Nike Vomero 18 stands out for its comfort. The breathable upper combined with the cushioned sole gives a very light feeling while running. Even though I’m not a professional runner, I can definitely recommend this model – whether you're running 5 kilometers or three times that.”
Mats is also positive about his shoes: “The Pegasus Premium, with its triple-layer cushioning technology, is one-of-a-kind. The responsive, cushioned sole provides comfort with every step and rebounds in a way that makes you feel like you're floating over the pavement. Definitely a great addition to my running shoe rotation.”
Cooling-down
After finishing their runs, Mats and Lotte meet up again. A bit of chatting, some stretching, and time for a coffee—or, in Lotte’s case, a matcha (it is Amsterdam, after all). All in all, a great start to the morning.
