Update August 12, 2025 - Less than a week after we saw the first images of the Yu-Gi-Oh! x .SWOOSH x Nike Air Max 95, Nike now reveals the official images of the collaboration. The collab features two colorways inspired by the Japanese series Yu-Gi-Oh!
The two colorways will be released by Nike on September 12, 2025.
Now, more than 25 years after Joey Wheeler appeared in the classic Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, Nike is releasing an Air Max 95 that is exactly based on the shoes he wore in the series. This collaboration is complemented by an apparel line that highlights the connection between Nike and Yu-Gi-Oh!
The campaign surrounding the launch includes a trailer featuring the original English and Japanese voice actors from the anime. According to Nike, this collaboration stems from the passion of the community and aims to inspire fans and supporters across different generations.
The sneaker is designed with unique details such as panels and laces that reflect the original art style, scratches on the shoe reminiscent of Joey’s sneakers, and subtle Yu-Gi-Oh! accents like the logo on the outsole.
Japan-exclusive release
There is also a Japan-exclusive ‘Jonouchi’ colorway with a gray design, based on the beginning of the anime and manga. Both shoes come in special packaging with official Nike x Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards, marking a first in the collaboration between a footwear brand and Konami’s trading card game.
In addition to the sneakers, there is a varsity-style Nike Destroyer jacket inspired by the Domino High School uniform from the series, made of wool and leather with striking details and co-branded patches. There are also T-shirts made of sturdy fabric featuring graphics of Joey and his Red-Eyes Black Dragon.
The ‘Joey’ colorway and accompanying apparel will be available worldwide from September 12, 2025, via SNKRS and selected stores. The ‘Jonouchi’ colorway and matching clothing will be available from the same date exclusively in Japan.

First Images of the Yu-Gi-Oh! x .SWOOSH x Nike Air Max 95
Original post August 7, 2025 -A new .SWOOSH release is on the horizon. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 95, Nike is dropping a striking collaboration with Yu-Gi-Oh!. During the San Diego Comic-Con, which took place at the end of July, the partnership was officially confirmed.
Now, the first images of the 'Psychic Blue' colorway have surfaced.
The sneaker features a blue design with bright yellow ‘Volt’ accents around the Air units and on the tongue, which is printed with ‘Air Muscle’. On the heel, you’ll find ‘1995 Nike Yu-Gi-Oh!’, a clear nod to the collaboration with the Japanese manga series.
On the insole, you'll see the Yu-Gi-Oh! logo alongside Red-Eyes Black Dragon, the iconic dragon from the series, which made a comeback in the trading card game in 2025. Each pair comes in a themed box, complete with a matching Yu-Gi-Oh! card featuring Joey Wheeler next to the dragon.
The release of the 'Psychic Blue' is scheduled for September 4, 2025, via Nike. Alongside the sneakers, a clothing collection will also be released, including a Nike Destroyer Jacket in 'Blue Void/Off White' and two Solo Swoosh T-shirts.
A second colorway, ‘White’, is expected later this fall.
