Düsseldorf sneaker store afew gives one of Saucony's running classics a story of its own. The afew x Saucony ProGrid Omni 9 'Tara Hawk' (S71049-1) drops on 7 November via a raffle. If you want to land the afew x Saucony ProGrid Omni 9, it will cost you €189.99.

The name refers to the tarantula hawk, a wasp known for its notorious sting. afew translated that creature into a pair that plays with light and texture. Black leather forms the base around the toe and the laces. Around it runs mesh in a gradient of blue, gold and purple, with a sheen that seems to shift colour as you turn it.

Look closer and the details stand out. The collar is lined with pony hair. In the heel, a clear TPU window refracts the light. And underfoot sits an orange TPU shank that pops against the black and grey midsole. A nod to the wasp's orange wings, or so it seems.

How to get a shot at a pair
The release runs entirely through a raffle on the afew website. You enter with your Instagram name and follow @afewstore to qualify. The results arrive by email after the draw. The pair is unisex and comes in US sizes 4 to 13.

With the afew x Saucony ProGrid Omni 9, the store joins a line of shops that have already given the model their own spin, including Footpatrol and Starcow. What stands out here: the concept isn't built around a city, but around an insect.

The afew x Saucony ProGrid Omni 9 'Tara Hawk' is up for grabs from 7 November through the raffle at afew. You'll find more models on our Saucony page.
