On 3 November, adidas will present the final DFB jersey of a partnership that spans more than seventy years. After that, Nike takes over the German national team. The final DFB jersey with the Three Stripes becomes a piece of football history straight away.
The bond goes back a long way. Adi Dassler, the founder of adidas, was already the official kit man of the DFB team in 1954, when Germany won its first World Cup, and supplied the future world champions with the right boots. The story of the DFB and adidas that followed is one of a kind and now comes to an end after more than 70 years.
The farewell was announced through The Great Debate, a short campaign film on Instagram. In it, former world champions such as Philipp Lahm, Jürgen Klinsmann, Per Mertesacker and Joachim Löw sit down with current players including Deniz Undav, Nick Woltemade and Jule Brand to argue about Germany's best shirt of all time. Not an easy call. The clip ends by announcing the farewell jersey.

The design of the final DFB jersey has not been revealed yet. It is expected to come in a classic white-and-black look, in both a short-sleeve and a long-sleeve version. A euro retail price has not been confirmed.

From Three Stripes to Swoosh
In March 2024, the DFB announced that Nike will become its new kit supplier from 2027. Nike reportedly pays around 100 million euros per year. adidas already marked the farewell with a special label on the inner hem of the home shirt Germany wore at the 2026 World Cup. Nike used that same tournament to tease its first Germany shirt, with Jamal Musiala front and centre.
