Like we promised, The Turnover will entertain you with a brand new episode every single week. We didn't lie, so here we have another amazing set. This week, DJ Turne has invited his good friend, Wantigga.
Wantigga
This week's guest in The Turnover is Jonathan Tan, better known by hist stage name Wantigga. Tan is a Dutch rapper, producer, and DJ. Wantigga grew up in an Indian family as the son of a pastor. Because of that, he was introduced to the world of music, at an early age, through gospel music. As he grew older he wanted to broaden his knowledge and learn about various styles. He got into hip-hop and electric music, and started producing beats for his self-written lyrics.
In 2008 he released his first projects as a producer under the Amsterdam-based label Kindred Spirit with the producer collective Javaans Jongens. Remixes of his beats started appearing on Soundcloud. These remixes got support from the likes of Aluna George and DJ Maxwell. After this international attention, Wantigga started touring in The Netherlands, Eurpe and Asia. He also played at various events festivals like Tomorrowland, Lowlands, Pukkelpop, and Down The Rabbit Hole.
With his platinum-certified tune "Lové," a collaboration with French rapper Damso, Wantigga put himself on the international radar of futuristic soul lovers. He also produced his first tune at the age of 12 and released his first EP called 'Pillow Talk' in 2016 under the French label Roche Musique. He followed that project up with the EP 'Suddenly Everything'. In 2017 he started his own music course in Deventer and he also has been a teacher at Herman Brood Academie.
Make sure to tune into this week's The Turnover featuring Wantigga because we guarantee you that you'll have a great time!
