The Hello Kitty and Nike collab returns

The history of Hello Kitty and Nike goes back to 2004. In this year, Sanrio's character existed exactly thirty years. Kitty's birthday was celebrated with an Air Presto. A total of twelve limited edition sneakers were made and were given away to Friends & Family.

The original plan of the collaboration in 2004 was to create five different colorways. Each colorway would be released in 500 pairs. This way, a large part of the Hello Kitty fans can celebrate the anniversary. Steven Smith, who worked on the project, shared a picture of the five colorways on Instagram.

Now, some eighteen years later, the Hello Kitty Air Presto is making a comeback. Whether the trainer will appear in the same five colourways is not yet known. In addition to the Presto, co-branded apparel will also be released. The Nike Air logo will appear on the items as well as the head of Sanrio's most famous character.

Hello Kitty has had a lot of collaborations lately. They have released a capsule collection with Blumarine, some items with Takashi Murakami and a bigger drop with Balenciaga.

It is not yet known when the collaboration between Nike and Hello Kitty will return, but more information will be available in the coming weeks. Stay tuned with our sneaker news.
