Nike starts selling refurbished sneakers

Nike has created a platform on which the brand offers refurbished sneakers. Nike has been involved with sustainability for a long time, think of the Move to Zero collection that uses sustainable materials, and now Nike is continuing its second-hand collection. Until now, the Nike Refurbished collection is only available in America.

Nike's used sneakers now have their own platform. On September 21, 2023, Nike launched the website Refurbished.Nike.com. Here the sneakers are offered for sale. In the collection we see models like the Air Jordan 1 High OG 'UNC' and the Air Jordan 5 'UNC' passing by.

The online extension of the program is part of Nike's circular offerings. The sneakers are lightly worn or appear as new after a thorough cleaning. Previously, the refurbished sneakers were offered in various Nike stores. Now the pairs will have an online platform.

The Nike Refurbished program:

  • Customers send the sneakers to Nike.
  • Nike's experts inspect and assess the pairs.
  • Each pair eligible to be resold is carefully cleaned and sanitized.
  • Refurbished sneakers return to stores at a discounted price.

The sneakers from the Nike Refurbished program are placed in three different categories; 'Like New', 'Slightly Imperfect', and 'Gently Worn'. The specimens are thoroughly checked and cleaned before being sold. Finally, the price of the new (old) pair is calculated.

For now, the Nike Refurbished site appears to be live only in America. When we will be able to order refurbished Nike sneakers in Europe is still unclear. Keep an eye on the news page for the latest updates.
