The new Concepts x ASICS collaboration is inspired by Japanese fine dining culture. The collection consists of a design on the GEL-LYTE III and a number of clothing items. Concepts and ASICS show their love for the Japanese sashimi art, especially the tuna.

Sneakers and sashimi seem at first to have nothing to do with each other. But Concepts and ASICS change that. The brands have created a design on ASICS' popular GEL-LYTE III model. Japanese tuna, also known as bluefin tuna, has been the inspiration for the shoe in this collection.
The belly fat of this type of tuna is called 'Otoro' in Japan. This part of the fish has been extremely popular in the culinary world for a number of years now. The Otoro of the bluefin tuna is greatly appreciated and even used by restaurants with Michelin stars for premium sashimi.
The GEL-LYTE III of the collection is completely covered in different shades of pink, which refers to the pink colour of the Otoro. The material used on the upper consists of full suede, which gives the sneaker a soft look. In addition, the shoe has a few striking details. There are reflecting details, reminiscent of special sushi knives. Japanese knives are popular worldwide and are seen as one of the best knives in the world.
The sneaker also comes with a green set of laces. This colour represents the wasabi that is often eaten with sashimi and sushi. Finally, the Concepts logo is applied to the heel and the insoles have unique graphics that refer to bluefin tuna and Japanese art.
'Four Days' Clothing
In addition to the shoe, a full clothing collection called 'Four Days' is also dropping. This name stands for the preparation method used when preparing tuna. This special method is also called 'shibi'. It is a process in which the tuna is kept in the ground for four days.
The collection includes various items such as: hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweatpants, shorts, socks and a bucket hat. The designs of these items are also inspired by tuna, wasabi and the knife used by Japanese chefs.
Of course, Concepts has also put their own spin on the collection, creating each item in their own style. The clothing of the brand often has an oversized fit, which gives it a 90s skate style. Materials like nylon and mesh are used in the shorts for extra flexibility. A nice detail is the tuna that is printed on the shirts and shorts.
