All Piet Parra sneaker collaborations so far

The images of the new Parra x Nike SB Dunk Low have been spreading across the internet for a while now. The official release date has not been announced yet, but we expect it won't be long. To make the wait for this release a little more pleasant, we have compiled a list of all the Pete Parra sneaker collaborations so far.

Piet Parra

Pieter Janssen, known as Piet Parra, is a graphic designer and illustrator from Amsterdam. He once started in a small room at the top of Patta's old office on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal. He also designed the Patta logo at the time, as well as the famous Woei logo. Pieter started with posters and illustrating flyers, until Nike came around the corner and wanted to work with him. Together, they released a number of sneakers. Besides this collaboration, Pieter has his own clothing brand called By Parra, formerly Rockwell Clothing.

Parra x Nike Air Max 1 'Amsterdam' & 'Albert Heijn'

Parra's first sneaker of the collaborations with Nike was in 2005. He released the Parra x Nike Air Max 1 'Amsterdam' together with the brand. In the shoe, you can see the pink and blue elements that go with Pete's house style. The rest of the colours of this sneaker is inspired by De Wallen in Amsterdam. On the insole of this shoe, a back of a woman in only pants is illustrated. Parra's handwriting is very recognisable in this.

Before the 'Amsterdam' was released, images of the Parra x Nike Air Max 1 'Albert Heijn' also appeared. Parra had used the colours of the famous supermarket for this sneaker. However, the supermarket chain changed their house colours around that time and therefore there was no official release of this colorway. In total, only 24 pairs of the AM1 'Albert Heijn' exist. These pairs are offered and sometimes sold for astronomical prices today.

Parra x Nike Air Max 95 'Running Man'

In 2008 Nike came out with a 'Running Man' pack. In this pack, besides the Air Max 95, there was an Air Max 90 and a Cortez. Parra was allowed to collaborate on the AM95. Because this Air Max has different layers on the upper, Parra could go wild with colours. The sole and the bottom layer were black. The layers above it were pink, red, blue and white. The laces are the same blue colour as the upper.

Patta x Parra x ASICS GEL-Lyte Speed

Patta and Parra have a rich history. This is because Parra, helped Patta with their logo. For Patta's fifth anniversary in 2009, Parra helped them out with an ASICS GEL-Lyte Speed. Instead of pink, Parra used red for the colorway. Yellow and blue obviously couldn't be missed from his handwriting and make a comeback on this sneaker. This pair also came with a matching backpack.

Parra x Vans

In 2009, Parra released another pair of sneakers. This time with skate brand Vans. They released an Era, Sk8-Hi and a Chukka. On these canvas shoes, Parra could let loose with his signature colours and illustrations. On the insole of these sneakers was written "Don't Forget To Actually Skate In These!".

Parra x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High 'Simply the Wurst'

In 2009, not only the ASICS and Vans collaborations came out, but also the Parra x Converse collaboration. Converse organised a barbecue in Berlin and asked Parra if he could design a Chuck for the guests. No sooner said than done. Parra had chosen a white Chuck to work with. He illustrated blue sausages with the text 'Simply the Wurst' on them. A funny hint to the barbecue.

Patta x Parra x Nike Air Max 1 'Cherrywood'

In 2010, Patta and Parra were back with a collaboration. This was also an Air Max 1 to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the Amsterdam streetwear brand. Parra went wild on a single colour Air Max 1, which resembles the 'Amsterdam' version of this model. The upper of the AM1 is made of suede and mesh, with the Swoosh and branding on the tongue in a terry cloth. On the insole are again illustrations by Parra with the Patta and Nike logos next to it. A total of 258 pairs were released, so this was a very limited edition. On StockX, this sneaker goes for more than €6000.

Parra x Converse (RED) Chuck Taylor All Star High

After the sausage sneaker that Parra made for Converse, he got to work for the (RED) charity in 2010. This Chuck was made of beige canvas with all red cherries on it. Of course, that does not sound like a typical Parra sneaker. It was, the cherries had legs with booties. The shoe had a red lining with a white sole.

Parra x Nike Air Max 1 & Zoom Spiridon

Parra took a break from sneakers for a few years and returned in 2018 with a Nike collaboration. Together, they released two different Air Max 1s and a Zoom Spiridon. On the shoes, you can see the colour palette of Patta's art and his illustrations are instantly recognisable. The second Air Max 1 was without the Swoosh and was a Friends & Family release. Besides these sneakers, they also released a matching tracksuit.

Parra x Nike SB Dunk Low & Blazer Low

After the previous Parra x Nike success, they couldn't wait to release another two sneakers together. In 2019, they came out with two versions of the SB Dunk Low and one version of the Blazer Low. The General Release SB Dunk Low and the Blazer Low remained white with Parra's identity incorporated into the Swoosh. It looks like there are different layers of the Swoosh in the pink, red and blue colour that we know the artist by. The nestles and the branding on the tongue have the same details.

The Friends & Family SB Dunk Low was slightly different. The base was suede in a dark green colour with the same Swoosh as the GR. The laces were white for contrast and underneath the Dunk was a gum sole. This was the last release of all Parra collaborations so far.
