The Union LA x BBS x Air Jordan 1 'Summer of 96' pack is scheduled for release on 26 August 2023. Nike and Union LA have previously collaborated and now Bephie's Beauty Supply joins them, a streetwear label founded by Beth Birkett, wife of Chris Gibbs, the owner of Union LA. The pack includes both the Air Jordan 1 High and the Air Jordan 1 Elevated High and pays homage to the 'Summer of 96'.

The 'Summer of '96' pack honours the summer when Beth and Gibbs first met. Looking back, they realise that that summer not only laid the foundation for their relationship, but was also the instigator of the lifestyle movement now known as 'streetwear'. The two designs therefore combine classic ideas with a contemporary vision and production technique.
Moreover, Union LA seems to be inspired by the Air Footscape Woven silhouette from the 2000s. This is evident as both pairs have a woven pattern running along the upper. The Air Jordan 1 High is released in a 'Sail' colour palette, with yellow stitching adorning the entire silhouette. An additional detail to note is the use of a turquoise colour around the heel.

The Jordan 1 Elevated High will also come out in a vibrant composition of colours, including Sail, Wolf Grey, Vanilla, Kinetic Green and University Gold. The Swoosh and Air Jordan Wings logo in particular stand out.
What is striking about both designs is that the upper seems to be held together by sturdy stitching. While the Swoosh is placed on the midsection. The aged midsole gives the sneakers a finishing touch and adds retro charm to the Air Jordan 'Summer of '96' colours.
