The Nike Air Max 97 celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022. As the name suggests, the Air Max 97 was introduced in 1997. Designed by Christian Tresser, the sneaker takes its inspiration from mountain bikes. It was long thought that the Air Max 97 was inspired by Japanese bullet trains, but this is not the case.
The 'Silver Bullet' was the first colorway released in 1997. The colorway combines a silver upper with red accents. The model has been given a dynamic silhouette. Wavy overlays are placed all over the design and the tongue features the Swoosh.
The Air Unit runs from toe to heel, giving the sneaker a modern look. Pull loops are placed on the heel and a mini Swoosh is set on the centre panel in red. The 3M details on the overlays reflect in the dark.
