In March of 2023, the legendary 'Big Bubble' returned to mark Air Max Day. Since then, we have noticed the larger Air Unit being used more and more often in new releases, including the upcoming launch of the Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG 'Obsidian'. This sneaker is scheduled for release on 8 September 2023.

Nike Air Max 1 ’86 OG 'Obsidian' | DQ3989-101
The Nike Air Max 1 appears in a mix of white, Obsidian and red- a colour scheme already seen on the golf version of the Air Max 1 earlier this year. When comparing these two trainers, there is actually almost no difference to be seen. This is because the only difference is the sole.
The design features a traditional combination of white mesh and grey nubuck on the upper, while navy blue accents cover the Swoosh and mudguard. To create contrast, red accents are also applied to the lace eyelets, tongue label and 'Nike Air' logo on the heel.
The Swoosh features a snake pattern. The Nike Air logo adorns the tongue, while a mini Swoosh is put on the toe cap. An Off-White midsole completes the design and the yellow outsole matches the retro accents on the silhouette.
Where to cop?
The Nike Air Max 1 was first introduced in 1987, while this particular colour combination did not drop until 1988. The 'Obsidian' variant was last available in 2017 and is now making its long-awaited comeback in 2023.
