The Air Jordan 3 Retro 'Wizards' was developed as a tribute to legendary basketball player Michael Jordan. In fact, Jordan played the last years before his retirement with the Washington Wizards, which is why the sneaker takes on the club colors. Nike named the model 'True Blue and Copper,' but the sneaker community disagreed and decided to give the pair the colorway name 'Wizards.'
Previously, a Jordan 3 was released using the Washington Wizards as its inspiration. In 2001, the first 'Wizards' colorway was released and since the sneaker that will be released on April 29, 2023 has so many comparisons to the 2001 pair, everyone agrees that the sneaker will be called the Air Jordan 3 Retro 'Wizards'.
The 2001 version and the upcoming Jordan 3 have many similarities, yet they are not entirely identical. In fact, the 2023 Jordan 3 uses brass details. The bronze-colored features can be seen, for example, on the tongue label.
