Rotterdam initiative WEAR is starting a collaboration with sneaker store The Athlete's Foot. With the collaboration, the two names want to take a big step in the circular fashion industry. Starting April 24, 2023, you can turn in your old sneakers at various locations of The Athlete's Foot and receive a discount on your next pair.
WEAR x The Athlete's Foot
WEAR, an initiative by Pim Roggeveen and Lorenzo van Galen, was founded in 2019. The company has grown tremendously in a short time, and WEAR has ongoing collaborations with Bristol and de Bijenkorf. At WEAR, they believe in a sustainable, cleaner, and more inclusive economy and focus on cleaning and repairing used sneakers to give them a second life.
For the next step, they are partnering with sneaker retailer The Athlete's Foot. The retailer was founded in 1971 and has recently gained several locations in the Netherlands. Together with WEAR, the brand wants to focus on sustainability in the sneaker scene.
At the start of 2023, The Athlete's Foot launched a new "Impact Program. In this campaign, the company plans to focus more on making the sneaker industry more sustainable. In pursuit of long-term impactful change, the company is partnering with local community initiatives such as Project Fearless, Trees for All and, consequently, WEAR.
Turn in your old sneakers
Starting Monday, April 24, 2023, you can donate your old sneakers at The Athlete's Foot in The Hague, Alkmaar, and Osdorp. For every sneaker donated, The Athlete's Foot will plant a tree in cooperation with Trees for All. The sneakers handed in will go to WEAR. For turning in your old sneakers you will receive a 15% discount voucher for The Athlete's Foot in Osdorp.
The campaign lasts until May 10, 2023. So quickly check your sneaker closet and donate your old pairs at one of the three branches of The Athlete's Foot. Do your part to make the fashion industry more sustainable and give your sneakers another life!
