Vans and Metallica introduce new sneaker collection

Vans and award-winning rock band Metallica have collaborated on a limited edition Sk8-Hi and Classic Slip-On to celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Black Album, their best-selling album of all time. The Vans x Metallica shoes, like the band, go for faster, harder and 'Off The Wall'. The shoes feature illustrations inspired by Metallica and designed by iconic Metallica artist Pushead.

Metallica's eponymous studio album was released in 1991 and has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and topped the music charts for more than 580 consecutive weeks. The band performed at House of Vans London in 2016 and has collaborated with Vans to release three shoe and clothing collections in the past decade.

Now Metallica and Vans are joining forces again with two shoes featuring artwork by Pushead, who has been designing iconic images and illustrations for the band's tour books, T-shirts and stages since 1986. Pushead's "Sad But True" design is synonymous with the entire Black Album era; his double skulls travelled the world on the banners at Metallica gigs.

The latest Vans x Metallica release features the mysterious skulls of Pushead on the heels of the Sk8-Hi and on the sides of each Classic Slip-On. Each model features a graphic blue design and silver Metallica details. Each pair is finished with a Metallica print on the heel.
