Union LA celebrates their 30th Anniversary with an Air Jordan 4 collab

Union LA celebrates its 30th anniversary with a lot of collaborations. One of the biggest collabs of this anniversary is the Union LA x Air Jordan 4. These new sneakers were already teased by Union LA in March. Now we finally have the first sneak peaks and details for you!

Keepin' you fly since 1989

Union LA is a store that combines fashion and functionality in their menswear. Union wanted to create a place that showed what the local kids were doing with music, art and fashion. They also wanted to be the one to provide unique items from different parts of the world. This dream eventually came true. The first Union LA store opened in Soho, NYC in 1989. It was the shop that represented the fashionable side of New York City's youth and counterculture.

Now you're probably thinking 'That's not 30 years ago, is it?'. True, but Union LA chose the opening of its Los Angeles shop in 1991 as its starting year. That's the shop that Chris Gibbs (the current owner of Union LA) eventually owned. Eddie Cruz actually opened the LA shop as a co-branded shop with Stussy called The Stussy Union. Eddie had been a key member of Union since the original Union space opened two years earlier in Soho NYC by Mary Ann Fusco and James Jebbia. But Eddie decided to move to Los Angeles and brought Union here with him. The main thing the store is known for is that it was the first 'streetwear' shop in the world.

Union LA x Air Jordan 4 (2021)

Union LA and Jordan are no strangers to each other. In 2020, they collaborated on a collection that consisted of two Air Jordan 4s (Off-Noir and Guava Ice), one Zoom 92, Delta Mid and apparel.

Soon we will be able to enjoy two new Air Jordan 4 models. One pair is dressed in a Desert Moss, Turquoise Blue and Dark Iris colorway. The other pair has been given a Taupe Haze, Blue Fury, Khaki and Roma Green colour scheme. Both silhouettes come in a mix of mesh and suede with translucent wings. Check out the Desert Moss version below.

Other details include the gold 'UN/LA' labels and the hangtags with the text '1991-2021' in the shape of a road sign. Also added is a hangtag featuring Sidney Poitier as Walter Lee Younger in Raisin in the Sun. Finally, the midsoles are completed by Air Max units.

Furthermore, the co-branded insole and Sail's rubber sole complete the designs. The upturned tongues are a nod to how Chris Gibbs liked to wear his AJ4s as a child.
