UNDEFEATED and Nike have a rich history together. One of the last collaborations we saw of the two was on the Nike Air Max 90. We also saw an Air Jordan 1 High that was inspired by the UNDEFEATED Nike Dunk high. In 2017 UNDEFEATED and Nike already released several colorways for the Air Max 97. Now there are rumours of three new colorways on the UNDEFEATED Nike Air Max 97.
UNDEFEATED was set up in 2002 by James Bond and Eddie Cruz in Los Angeles. The two had the idea to open a sneaker boutique focused on collectors of exclusive and unique sneakers. UNDEFEATED teamed up with artists to sell unique sneakers. These projects became very popular and shaped the sneaker culture as it is today. Over the 18 years of the shop's existence, the brand has collaborated with many big brands. For example such as Nike, adidas, New Balance and Converse. UNDEFEATED is no longer only located in Los Angeles, but also in Las Vegas and a number of shops in Japan.
The Air Max 97 first came out in 1997 and was inspired by rain drops. The lines scattered over the top are the waves that come off a raindrop when it falls in a puddle of water. Although the Air Max 95 was the first sneaker with Air in the forefoot, the Air Max 97 was the first sneaker with a full Air Unit as sole.
UNDEFEATED x Nike Air Max 97
In the mockup you can see the three colorways that come on the sneaker. The sneaker will release in a 'Black', 'Sail' and 'Militia Green' colorway. The upper will be made of leather and mesh. Just like the previous releases, these colorways will have the UNDEFEATED text around the sneaker. Nike branding can be found on the tongue and midfoot while the UNDEFEATED logo is on the tab above the tongue. Under the upper part is a white midsole with coloured outsole.
