Hey girls! There are some models that everyone in the sneaker scene knows. Take for example the Air Jordan sneakers, the Air Force or even the adidas Superstars. However, there are some outsiders that some may be less familiar with, but still pack a lot of punch! That's why I like to focus on these 'wallflowers' in my posts to also highlight their beauty 😉. In this post, the Nike Internationalist Ladies is put in the spotlight.
Even though the Nike Internationalist is not as popular today as it used to be, it has still made a name for itself. The Nike Internationalist is a shoe that has been called the "sneaker of champions". Originally launched for the NY Marathon, the shoe was worn by Alberto Salazar, the champion distance runner. Winning this race made the silhouette famous, which led to a cult following.
Cinema references
However, the shoe is not only known for its running qualities, it also became a cinema icon in the 80s. For example, through Brian 'The Brain' Johnson. The Internationalist became Brian's choice of footwear in the John Hughes cult classic The Breakfast Club. The most famous of these is the dance scene.
In 2014, the sneaker was revived to celebrate its 30th birthday and some cool new colorways to the Internationalist collection. These are my three favourite pairs of the Nike Internationalist for women:
Nike WMNS Internationalist | DM3076-100
This colorway has a bright white base with pink and yellow elements, making it perfect for summer. Wear with jeans, a cute summer dress or maybe even a combo set. For example, think of a combo set with bike shorts.
Nike Internationalist Damen | 828407-621
This pink and white pair is perfect for a day out. Enough colour to show a spark, but muted enough not to overpower the rest of your outfit. It would work well with a cute floral summer dress, for example.
However, pink is one of those colours we see so often. Some love it, some hate it. But the fact is that pink and "sweet" shades are sometimes overused in WMN models.

The third pair I choose has a natural base with some blue details. On top of that, the sneaker has some additional suede overlays that add some texture and depth to the shoe. Get these versatile sneakers here:
