The year 2023 is coming to an end soon. This year, a lot of unique, exclusive and high-profile sneakers were released. In the Sneakerjagers Sneaker of the Year 2023 competition, you can now vote for your favourite! Cast your vote via the Sneakerjagers app and win the sneaker of the year 2023 with a bit of luck.

Sneakerjagers Sneaker of the Year 2023

The year 2023 saw many diverse and interesting sneaker releases. From the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low collab, the MSCHF Big Red Boot, the return of the Air Max 1 or the beloved adidas Samba OG - it was an eventful year in the world of sneakers. Look back on the year 2023 with our Sneakerjagers Sneaker of the Year 2023 competition and stand a chance to win the best release of the year.

The Sneakerjagers Sneaker of the Year 2023 competition consists of four rounds in which 32 sneakers, carefully selected by the Sneakerjagers team, compete against each other until two pairs make it to the fifth and final round. For each round, you can vote in the Sneakerjagers app for the release you think should go to the next round. A new round will be announced after three days.

The first round will start on 15 December 2023 at 09:00. You have three days to vote for your favourite releases before the next round starts. The competition will last until 29 December 2023 23:59. On 30 December 2023, just before the New Year, the best sneaker of 2023 will be announced.

  • Register for the giveaway via the banner in the app
  • Vote for your favourite sneaker each round (The more often you vote, the higher your chances of winning).

After the sneaker of the year is announced, the winner of the respective pair will be announced on the Sneakerjagers website. In addition, they will be personally notified via email. This prize is co-sponsored by StockX.

adidas Samba OG 'White'

The adidas Samba OG was introduced in the late 1940s as an indoor football shoe. Released from the archives in 2023, the Samba OG also served as a popular lifestyle sneaker. The 'White' colorway, characterised by black details, a brown gum sole and a blue adidas logo, was particularly popular.

The adidas Samba OG in the 'Black' colorway was a popular sneaker this year with its timeless design. More than 70 years after the Samba OG's debut, the model is still relevant, as 2023 proved. The silhouette received several colorways and was used in multiple collaborations. Still, the 'Black' colorway remained a favourite with many.

Stone Island x New Balance 991v2 'Black Olive' - Made in UK

That Stone Island and New Balance are a golden duo when it comes to sneaker collabs was proved once again this year with the release of the 991v2 'Black Olive' - Made in UK. The design combines Stone Island's cutting-edge technologies with New Balance's classic design elements. The result: a sleek design that puts quality and comfort first.

JJJJound x New Balance UK 991 'Grey'

Another golden duo in terms of collaborations, are Montreal-based studio JJJJound and New Balance. After several successful collaborations, the two names came up with the New Balance UK 991 'Grey' in 2023. The sneaker has a streamlined design with an understated colorway, as we have come to expect from JJJound's designs.

Nike Air Max 1 'Urawa' - 2023

There may have been many Air Max 1 releases in 2023, but the re-release of the 'Uruwa' is perhaps the best of 2023. The colorway is the sequel to the eponymous colorway that appeared in 2004. The '04 release was inspired by the home jersey of Japanese football club Urawa Red Diamonds. In 2023, the away shirt got its own release; the Nike Air Max 1 'Urawa' - a highly anticipated release for Air Max 1 fans.

Nike Air Max 1 Premium 'Shima Shima III' - 2023

The Nike Air Max 1 Premium 'Shima Shima III' appeared in early 2023 and is the sequel to the 2003 Nike 'Shima Shima' pack. This pack consisted of a Nike Air Trainer 1, Air Max 1 and a Dunk High each inspired by Japanese culture. Exactly 20 years later, the Air Max 1 'Shima Shima III' got a re-release that, apart from a few details, looked exactly like its successful predecessor.

New Balance 1906D Protection Pack 'Harbor Grey'

With its striking design, the New Balance 1906D Protection Pack 'Harbor Grey' is a very popular sneaker release from 2023. The New Balance Protection Pack, which debuted in 2021, is characterised by the 'torn' overlays that run across the sneaker's uppers. The New Balance 1906D appeared in several colorways, but the 'Harbor Grey' is secretly the best with its classic grey colorway.

MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon ACS Pro Advanced 'Blue Bonnet'

An eye-catching 2023 collaboration: the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon collab. During this year's Super Bowl halftime show, Rihanna was seen wearing a sneaker from the two names' collaboration; the MM6 x Salomon Cross Low. Shortly after the show, several designs from the collaboration appeared, including the ACS Pro Advanced 'Blue Bonnet', which was an instant hit with its unique blue colorway.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low 'Rammellzee'

The Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low 'Rammellzee' pays tribute to American artist and artist Rammellzee. The New York artist was known for his colourful graffiti works, something also brought back in the collaboration with Supreme and Nike. The collaboration came with two sneakers, including the Dunk Low 'Rammellzee'.

Born x Raised x Nike Dunk Low SB 'One Block at a Time'

The Born x Raised x Nike Dunk Low SB 'One Block at a Time' is designed with an eye for detail. The sneakers name hints at the Los Angeles-based streetwear brand's slogan and appears on the nose of the silhouette. Pink accents on the upper, custom perforation holes on the toebox and metallic details make the sneaker one of the best releases of 2023.

The adidas Campus 00s was arguably one of the most popular silhouettes of 2023. The model takes inspiration from the original adidas Campus model from the 1980s and has a chunky silhouette. The sneaker comes with a suede upper, thickened tongue and the classic adidas branding that give the pair a timeless look.

Bad Bunny x adidas Campus 'Brown'

In 2023, the popularity of the adidas Campus soared, inspiring Bad Bunny to collaborate on this silhouette. The Puerto Rican artist has been collaborating with the German brand since 2021 and has not disappointed since. The Bad Bunny x adidas Campus 'Brown' was especially popular in Autumn 2023 for its brown suede upper. Like previous collaborations, the sneaker featured a double tongue, heel and padded collars.

Air Jordan 4 Retro WMNS 'Seafoam'

The Air Jordan 4 WMNS 'Seafoam' was first shown at an SNKRS Live in 2022 and has since captured many sneaker lovers' hearts. The design features a colourblocking that resembles the original 'Fire Red' colorway from 1989. Featuring a leather upper in white and eye-catching details in 'Seafoam Green'.

Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 'Pine Green'

Sneakerheads had to wait a long time for it, but in 2023, the very first Nike SB x Air Jordan 4 became a reality. In previous years, the two worlds already came together for several Air Jordan 1 colorways, and now the Air Jordan 4 has also been readied for skateboarding. Nike deliberately omitted the Zoom Air Units to offer a better board feel, while the support wings and heel are made of softer material.

Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 'Lapis Lazuli' - Made in USA

In 2023, rapper Action Bronson and New Balance first joined forces with the launch of the 990v6 'Baklava'. Soon after came the 'Lapis Lazuli', named after a gemstone that originated in the time of the Egyptians. The deep blue stone adorns both the upper and the sole of the 990v6.

Stone Island x New Balance 574 Legacy 'Green'

Since 2021, Stone Island and New Balance have been joining forces, giving various silhouettes a new look. In 2023, the New Balance 574 also received a Stone Island makeover with progressive materials. The sneakers's upper is made of ripstop, which is a weaving technique that makes textiles stronger and more tear-resistant, and the overlays are made of suede.

Union LA x BBS x Air Jordan 1 High OG 'Pale Vanilla'

The Union LA x BBS x Air Jordan 1 High OG 'Pale Vanilla' is a unique collaboration between Nike, Union LA, and Bephie's Beauty Supply (BBS). BBS is a streetwear label founded by Beth Birkett, wife of Chris Gibbs, the owner of Union LA. This Air Jordan 1 is part of the 'Summer of '96' pack, which pays homage to the summer when Beth and Gibbs first met.

J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 'Medellín Sunset'

Colombia-based reggaeton artist J Balvin has already released several sneakers in collaboration with Nike, including the Air Jordan 1 High and the Air Jordan 2. In 2023, they joined forces again for the Air Jordan 3, which has been given a vibrant makeover inspired by the sunsets in his hometown of Medellín. The sneaker shows a beautiful transition from purple to orange and yellow.

Tiffany & Co x Nike Air Force 1 'Black'

In 2023, jewellery brand Tiffany & Co. and Nike collaborated for the first time, transforming the iconic Air Force 1 Low model into a true gem. The sneaker features a premium black suede upper and a Swoosh in classic Tiffany Blue, the brand's signature turquoise colour.

In 2023, Nike also partnered with well-known retailer size? The two names have previously released designs for the Air Max 95, Air Huarache and Dunk Low. With its rich and earthy brown colour palette, this particular release was available exclusively at size?

Nike Air Max 1 PRM 'Keep Rippin Stop Slippin 2.0'

Without a doubt, 2023 was the year of the Air Max 1 silhouette! A standout colorway is the Nike Air Max 1 PRM 'Keep Rippin Stop Slippin 2.0', inspired by the 2008 classic 'Keep Rippin Stop Slippin'. The original version was part of the 'Greatest Hits' package, alongside the Nike Air Stab 'Runnin Gunnin' and the Nike Air Max 90 'King of the Mountain'. Unlike the original, the 2.0 version uses red details instead of orange.

Nike Corteiz x Air Max 95 SP 'RULES THE WORLD'

2023 Nike and Corteiz have joined forces to create a new version of the Air Max 95 silhouette. Corteiz, a London-based streetwear label founded by Clint (aka Clint419), is known for its exclusivity and intriguing marketing strategy. Corteiz's Air Max 95 was unveiled in a special video that was shared widely. The usual small Swoosh on the side has been replaced with 'Corteiz', while the signature Alcatraz logo can be seen on the tongue.

Nike Air Max 95 'Reverse Neon'

The Nike Air Max 95 'Reverse Neon' comes in a combination of leather and mesh. This design takes inspiration from the original 1995 'Neon' colorway. Numerous new editions have appeared since the introduction of the Air Max 95 silhouette. The AM95 'Reverse Neon' retains the same colours as the original, yet offers a slightly altered look. The design leans towards darker tones, while staying true to the signature Neon colours of the original with the details.

Air Jordan 3 Retro 'White Cement Reimagined'

The Air Jordan 3 Retro 'White Cement Reimagined' is part of Jordan Brand's 'Reimagined' series. The 2023 release looks exactly like the OG 'White Cement' that came out in 1988. The only difference is that the 2023 variant has been given a special vintage look. The AJ 'White Cement Reimagined' also uses several legendary colours, such as the OG colour 'Fire Red' on the details.

Travis Scott x Nike Mac Attack 'Light Smoke Grey'

The Travis Scott x Nike Mac Attack 'Light Smoke Grey' was a much-discussed sneaker release in 2023. In 1984, the Nike Mac Attack OG was originally designed for tennis player John McEnroe. The Travis Scott x Nike Mac Attack bears similarities to the original colorway, but adds a unique element with Travis' inverted signature Swoosh. Towards the end of 2023, videos surfaced on the internet of a dispute between John McEnroe and Travis over the name of the new sneaker.

Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG 'University Red'

A 2023 highlight: the return of the Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG 'University Red' with the 'Big Bubble'! In honour of the 36th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 1 model, the Swoosh brand brought back the very first variant of the silhouette in 2023, with a larger Air Unit. This large Air Unit caused problems at the time of its creation, which is why the Air Max 1 models we know today have a significantly smaller 'Air Unit'. In 2023, we saw the Big Bubble return for the first time in the OG colorway, and many more colorways have been released since then.

Nike Air Footscape Woven 'Cow'

The Nike Air Footscape Woven model also returned in 2023. First introduced in 2000, the design has a special look where the upper is inspired by a chukka boot. During SNKRS Day 2023, the Nike Air Footscape Woven 'Cow' colorway made its comeback. A striking feature of the Air Footscape Woven design is that nowhere on the upper is the Nike logo visible.

Nike Air Max 1 'Chili 2.0'

Another hyped comeback in 2023: the Nike Air Max 1 'Chili 2023'. First released in 2003, this colorway received a new release in 2023, 20 years later. Some differences can be seen in the design of the 2023 version and the original model. For instance, the upper of the updated version is lighter grey, but overall, the original colour scheme has remained almost intact. A highlight for Air Max 1 fans this year!

Nike Air Max 1 'Design By Japan' (Asia Exclusive)

Last but not least, we have another special Air Max 1 design: the Nike Air Max 1 'Design By Japan'. This shoe was designed by Eric Goto in collaboration with Japanese SNKRS members for Air Max Day 2023, which also marked the 35th anniversary of the silhouette. The design is further inspired by the Nike Sting model, a running shoe from the 1970s.
