Size? rounds off the year with an exclusive Nike release. The images have been going around for a while, but now the moment is really there. Size and Nike will soon bring the Air Force 1 Low 'Manchester Bee' out with some nice details.
The History of the Manchester Bee
The Manchester Bee has been a symbol of the city for 150 years. The iconic worker bee symbol was first adopted by the Lancashire city in the 18th century, at a time when the city had beome a leader in the Industrial Revolution. It symbolised the hive of activity the city had become and its hard-working citizens.
Bees have been featured across Manchester's most famous landmarks and brands, like the town hall has a mosaic of a bee sitting at its steps, and the University of Manchester has a bee on its crest.
The bee took on a new life after the horrific events at the Ariana Grande concert in 2017, where 23 people were killed and more than 800 injured in a bombing attack at the Manchester Arena. Artists began depicting the Manchester Bee across the city's buildings, and adults showed their solidarity by getting bee tattoos, with a huge amount of money going to charity.
Three years later, the bee continues to be used as a symbol of hope, unity and defiance in the city of Manchester.
Nike Air Force 1 Low 'Manchester Bee' | DC1939-200
Now we see the Manchester Bee on a special version of the Air Force 1 Low. The top of the sneaker consists of suede and leather in a light brown colour. A black leather Swoosh you can find on the midfoot with the Manchester Bee on the side of the heel. Honeycomb details are on the tongue and on the inside of the sneaker. On the tongue there is another nice detail, here it says "0161". These are the numbers with which telephone numbers from Manchester start. A white midsole and grey outsole round off the sneaker.
So the sneaker is inspired by the city of Manchester. Usually large cities in America or Japan get sneakers with an inspiration from cities. Now Manchester is a part of this list and the sneaker lovers from Manchester are enormously honoured.
We do not know the exact release date of the Size? x Nike Air Force 1 'Manchester Bee'. Take a look at the images below and keep an eye on our release calendar to not miss this sneaker release or another.
