Last year we have already looked forward to the Undefeated x Nike Air Max 90 collab and it seemed that this year's Nike Air Max Day 2020 would finally be the day. But unfortunately the release date has jumped into the unknown shortly before that. But still I want to share the first pictures of the Undefeated x Nike Air Max 90 'Pacific Blue' with you because this sneaker really has it all! And we can be surprised by it anytime, maybe even in April 2020, with it's release. For €150 it will be available at selected retailers. But let's check the details first.
While the first AM90 design was close to the original, Undefeated has taken a futuristic retro approach with this version. Meaning we get a new, own interpretation of the Air Max 90 in a modernized style. See below to find out exactly how this was done in the Undefeated x Nike AM 90 'Pacific Blue':
Undefeated x Nike Air Max 90 'Pacific Blue'
The core is still clearly the Nike Air Max 90 but you can already see how the materials are combined. We can spot the first changes: A mix with iconic and new sneaker materials already gives the new Undefeated x Nike Air Max 90 'Pacific Blue' a modernized look. They also combined materials that were used for outdoor gear on the streets of New York in the 90s. While the swoosh got an extension, the typical Air Max branding of rubber over the Air window was dropped. Also the padding in the shoe tongue and heel was minimized in favor of a slimmer look. Instead, we got a heel strap and tongue lacing, which according to Nike remind us of the Vomero 5.
Overall, the look of the Undefeated x Nike AM 90 'Pacific Blue' was inspired by the old Nike ACG and running shoe series. Also the colorway is a tribute to the running shoes of the late 80s, early 90s. Personally I think the look is really great! My personal favorite: the speckled midsole!
