After the commotion surrounding designer Tom Sachs, who was in the news in early May 2023 due to worrisome working conditions in his workplace, Nike and Sachs seemed to part ways. Nike indicated it was discontinuing the collaboration, but now a new colorway of the Nike General Purpose Shoe (GPS), the 'Summit White', appears to be released.
Tom Sachs' General Purpose Shoe, introduced in 2022, went very fast since its first release. The trainer has a simple look and therein lies its strength. The timeless model comes with durable materials. The chunky outsole provides grip and gives the sneaker a more chunky look.
The trainer has already received several colorways, including the 'Field Brown', 'Dark Sulfur' and the 'Light Cream'. Now we see the first images of a new colorway; the 'Summit White'. The trainer seems to take inspiration from the previous colorways. A yellow Swoosh is placed on the centre panel.
The green details on the tongue and heel hint at an Oregon-inspired colorway, the place where Nike was founded. Nike branding appears on the tongue and heel. Whether this means Tom Sachs and Nike are working together again is still unknown. It seems that Nike is pursuing the trainer on its own. Keep an eye on the news page for updates.
The Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe 'Summit White' does not yet have an official release date. However, we expect the trainer in October 2023. Keep an eye on the release calendar for updates.
