Nike comes this year with the Nike Air Max 2021. This Air Max consists of many sustainable materials through the Move To Zero project of the American sports brand.
Nike's Move To Zero project is all about sustainability. The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world. Nike wants to help reduce this by striving for a future without plastic waste and less CO2 emissions.
To achieve these sustainability goals, they use many recycled materials and less plastic. With their Move To Zero project, they are trying to save the earth in time.
Nike Air Max 2021 'Venice' | DA1923-500
This Nike Air Max 2021 has a futuristic look. Looking at the brand new silhouette, the laces, tongue and sole are immediately noticeable.
There are different materials on the upper. The base is made of nylon in lilac. Around the laces, there is a leather overlay. Around the heel there are leather overlays as well. Around the nose there are rubber dots. On the inside of the shoe is a panel of mesh.
There are contrasting elements on the upper. On the sides and on the nose you can see visible stitching in bright pink. On the tongue you can see these stitches as well. The laces on the leather overlays are metal and also in this colour.
The sole is a striking element. It consists of two parts. The rear part contains the fully visible Air unit in an orange colour with an orange rubber cage around it. The part under the forefoot is made of foam and in white. Above the midsole is a rubber border that changes colour from orange to purple. The outsole is black.
This Air Max is part of the Move To Zero project. This means that at least 20% of the materials on the model are recycled. Existing plastic, yarn and textiles are reused to reduce CO2 emissions.
