Update August 25, 2025 – If there’s a duo that keeps surprising us with their projects, it’s definitely Brain Dead and adidas. For their next collab, the duo has revealed two colorways of the Japan Lo and one colorway of the Hi model. The sneaker was already shown a few months ago in a showroom in Paris and will hit the shelves this month.

The Japan Lo was originally designed for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. With its low-profile design, the sneaker fits perfectly into the current sneaker trend, so its comeback was not entirely unexpected, especially considering the lineup featuring models like the Taekwondo and Tokyo.
For this collab, Brain Dead adds a creative twist, with playful details and a retro vibe that perfectly matches their previous designs. The pair is released in two colorways: ‘Brown’ and ‘Black’. Both versions come with flame-shaped overlays made of hairy suede that nicely contrast with the sturdy leather on the upper.
Other unique details include the hairy laces, suede pull tab on the heel, and the contrasting leather collar, which together create a luxurious yet playful look.
Alongside that, we also get a single colorway of the Japan Hi model reworked by Brain Dead. This design takes on a taller, wrestling boot-inspired look, while carrying the same bold flame detailing as the Lo versions. The look features a sleek black base with off-white highlights and touches of pine green.
