The New Balance 990v5 'Gray' gets a vegan version

The MADE in UK and USA lines of New Balance are very popular. The sneakers often have an upper made of soft leather or pigskin suede. This year, the sports brand is launching a New Balance 990v5 'Gray' made of vegan materials.

Instead of leather and suede, the new version uses vegan leather, mesh and plastics. The base of the pair is made of mesh. The overlays on the mesh upper are made of vegan leather to replace the pigskin suede. The overlay near the collar and the heelcap both use plastic materials.

The vegan pair and the original are almost identical. On this version, there is just a 'V' in white and green on the heel tab. With this, New Balance indicates that the pair is vegan. The branding and logo on the tongue are also different. On this pair, these are in different shades of grey.

The midsole and outsole of this pair are the same as the original. For the midsole, New Balance used EVA foam and ENCAP technology. The outsole is covered in the same light grey colour as the mesh upper.

The New Balance 990v5 'Gray' Vegan is expected to be released on 17 January 2022. As always, you can find a list of all shops and Raffles via the button in our release calendar. The price for the pair starts at 200€.
