Nike and CLOT come together again, dropping the Nike Cortez in 2023. The sneaker has an innovative look and comes with a removable sleeve. The CLOT x Nike Cortez does not yet have an official release date. However, we can expect the release in Summer 2023.
CLOT and Nike are no strangers to each other. The two have worked together several times in the past and in 2006 released the CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 'Kiss of Death', a design with a transparent toebox. This colorway was followed by several Air Max 1 versions, and in 2022 CLOT released the Nike Dunk High in a transparent, silver look.
The new collaboration uses the Nike Cortez silhouette. The Cortez model is a particularly popular silhouette on the tennis court and has a retro look. A striking feature of the CLOT x Nike Cortez is the removable sleeve. This reminds us of the creations of Dutch design studio Hagel. The sleeve is stretched around the sole and mudguard.
The upper of the sneaker is leather and has a white colour. The tongue features the CLOT logo. The Swoosh on the centre panel colours black and, like the upper, is made of leather. The sleeve has a black colour and is made of elastic material. At the heel, a pull loop is placed to adjust the sleeve.
The sneaker takes inspiration from the sport kung-fu. A Chinese character is set on the heel of the pair and the paper from the shoebox comes with kung-fu inspired prints. The CLOT x Nike Cortez does not yet have an official release date. However, we can expect the sneaker in 2023, most likely during the Summer.
