Nike continues the Nike Dunk Low Saga with even more Dunk freshness this Thursday 11 February! 2020 has already been called the year of the Dunk, but that title seems to carry over into the year 2021. The year got off to a great start with a number of OG college colorways that raised the hype around Dunks to unprecedented levels.

Within no time, all available colourways were sold out via Nike and various selected Nike retailers. Also this Thursday, February 11, 2021, no less than five different Dunks will be dropped. Including two Dunk Low's in the colorways: ‘Orange Pearl’ and ‘Hyper Cobalt’. The Dunk Sage is thus continued.

History of the Dunk

In 1985, Nike released the Dunk which was originally designed as a basketball shoe. Peter Moore designed the shoe and derived the model from the Air Force 1. Moore and his design team also took inspiration from the Air Jordan 1, which launched only a few months before. Together with the AJ1, the Dunk became an inspiration for basketball and gave a popularity boost to the game and to fashion.

Since the first launch of the Dunk, many different designs have been released. After the popularity of the shoe in basketball, the model also became popular among skateboarders. In 2002, Nike Dunk SB was founded and the brand focused on optimising the model especially for skateboarders.

Today, the Nike Dunk has become an iconic streetwear shoe and is also released by the Nike Lifestyle brand. Well-known artists and designers such as Virgil Abloh of Off White have taken the model and boosted the popularity of the Dunk again. In 2020 Nike released design after design of the Dunk. In 2021 they continue the trend, with some great colourways ready for you in February as well.

The 'Orange Pearl' colourway was designed especially for women. The two-tone colourway can be seen on the Low version. White and light pink alternate on the leather material. These soft colours and the sturdy material strike the perfect balance, making the pair easy to combine with any outfit.

The Nike Dunk Low ‘Hyper Cobalt’ has been given a brighter colour, the deep blue cobalt immediately attracting attention. The blue is interspersed with black panels that make the blue seem even more intense. To make the shoe a bit fresher, the midsole remains white. With this combination, the colourway seems to be derived from the OG Air Jordan 1 High Retro 'Royal' from 1985.

The Nike Dunk High 'All Star' is especially designed for the NBA All-Star Weekend. This design shines through the patent leather layer and stands out with its black, mint green colorway.

Exclusive to women, the Dunk High in 'Team Red' also marks the calendar on 11/02. This colourway has also remained two-tone: the unique brown-red colour is alternated with a cream-coloured underlayer.

Last but not Least, Nike released the Dunk Disrupt in 'Siren Red' especially for women. The bright red colour is featured on the new Disrupt model and has a modern look.
