2021 was once again packed with a lot of hot sneaker releases. It was the year of the Nike Dunk, but also of brilliant collaborations and more. Together with several well-known sneakerheads, we look back at their favourite sneaker release of the past year. Enjoy:
Marije Zuurveld
Marije's best pick of the year is the New Balance M2002 Protection Pack 'Phantom'. According to her, it is the best black trainer, a simple look, but just a bit more special if you look closely. Besides, they are super comfortable.
Esther van Adrichem
Of all the sneaker releases from 2021, the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Rush Maroon' - The Wave is Esther's favourite. She is a big fan of the design and has always had a weak spot for anything pink and shiny. The orange details finish it off for Esther.
The third Wave is more special to Esther than the other three. The thought behind this release means a lot to her. People who win with you, but who also stand by you when you lose. The ones that are always there for you and encourage you to persevere.
Celmatique
For Celeste, 2021 was not her best trainer pickup year. In 2020, she managed to get more fresh kicks. Nevertheless, she made a lot of her own Nike Dunk High By You creations. She ended up buying three of those.
Ernie Beckmann
Ernie's favourite pick of the year is the adidas Forum 84 Low x Midwest Kids. Ernie has been a fan of the silhouette for a long time and has many different OG and special vintage pairs in his collection. He is a true connoisseur of vintage basketball silhouettes, especially those made by adidas. In addition, the identity of the Midwest Kids is clearly incorporated in the design.
DJ Flava
Ivo Doesburg has two favourite releases from 2021. His first favourite is the Patta The Wave pack. The Air Max 1 has been Ivo's favourite silhouette for a long time. However, it is the marketing and background story that makes the pack even more special to him.
Ivo's second favourite is the Off-White x Jordan 2. He has a love/hate relationship with the Air Jordan 2 and this pair is the first ever Jordan 2 in his collection.
Yentl
Yentl's favourite pickup is the Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97. The pair came out in 2018, but Yentl was able to buy this sneaker over from a friend for a pleasant price this year. This Air Max had been atop her wish list for a long time.
Rocky Hehakaija
For Rocky, there is one easy winner this year, the Patta The Wave pack. She is a big fan of all four colorways.
Davy James
Davy's favourite pick of the year is the Fragment x Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG. This is due to the colour scheme with black, blue and sail. The leather is high quality and the pair is easy to style.
Kamo Blue
The Carpet Company x Nike SB Dunk High is Kamo's favourite pick of 2021. He is a big fan of the colour scheme used on the upper. He also likes the yellowed sole as an addition to the design.
Tijn Witteveen
Of all the sneaker releases from 2021, the Patta x New Balance 991 is Tijn's favourite pick. He is a big fan of the 991 silhouette, but this collaboration with Patta really stands out for Tijn.
Sandoobie
Scooby's favourite this year is the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Monarch'. He loves both the story behind the design and the look. In addition, the shoe is made of high quality and the shape of the toebox is also good. The 'Monarch' colorway fits many different outfits.
Florian Kapias
The Patta The Wave pack is also Florian's favourite. The concept, Patta's guts to take on the original Air Max 1, the shortmovie, live sessions in the SNKRS app, the ferry in Amsterdam and the wall of the pop-up store in the colours of the releases puts this release at number one. The order for Florian is first 'Monarch', then 'Black', then 'Noise Aqua' and 'Maroon' at number four.
Sergey Vetrov
Sergey is a big collector of Saucony kicks. A true Saucony connoisseur. His favourite pickup this year is the Fresh Rags x Saucony Grid Web 'Manatee'.
Tobias Platzer
Tobias only collects sneaker releases from adidas. His favourite adidas pair of 2021 is the adidas Forum 84 Low ADV. He got very excited when he heard that adidas would bring back the 1984 silhouette.

Klaara's favourite pair this year is the A Ma Manière x Air Jordan 3. She loves the colorway that goes with all her outfits, but she also values the story behind the shoe. Women play a big role in our lives.
Bisso
Bisso's favourite sneaker release of 2021 is the Kangaroos Runaway 001 x Bisso x Max Loewe 'Rainbow Trout'. He is proud to be a part of this collaboration and to release a sneaker.
Tommie Brink
Tommie's favourite pick of the year is the Air Jordan 1 High Retro 85 'Neutral Grey'. It is a simple, yet classic colour scheme that can be worn every day. This model is also Tommie's favourite because of the original 1985 shape.
Titi Finlay
Titi has three different Air Max releases for her favourite pick of the year. The Patta The Wave pack is a big favourite of hers along with the Air Max BW 'Persian Violet' and Air Max 90 'Bacon'.
Ginney Noa
Ginney's favourite pick of all the sneaker releases of 2021 is the New Balance M2002 Protection Pack 'Rain Cloud'. She wears this pair almost every day. They go with everything and are very comfortable.
