The Air Jordan 1 KO 'Chicago' - still no release date

For months now, the sneaker scene has been speculating about an upcoming release of the Air Jordan 1 KO 'Chicago'. Now, we thought the kicks were finally releasing but there was a little delay again. Nevertheless we want you to know the story behind the sneaker. They stay true to their roots and are made of canvas, leather and the typical colours white, red and black.

The Air Jordan 1 KO differs from the typical AJ1 in that it has a canvas upper instead of leather. Other differences from the original Air Jordan 1 are the AJKO branding, which replaces the Air Jordan logo on the wings, and a Vandal outsole.

Canvas construction makes up the majority of the upper and is finished in matching Chicago colours, with crisp white toe boxes, tongues and quarter paneling surrounded by 'University Red' overlays in the forefoot, Ankle Flaps and the Rubber Soles.

To complete the Bulls-influenced theme, we find black on the leather swooshes and ankle panels, in addition to the laces, lining and remixed 'AJKO'-branded Jordan Wings logo embellishments. Nike Sportswear logos are then added to the tongue and insoles in a matching bright hue.

Back to the beginning

The AJKO first wowed in 1986, then returned in 2010 and was re-released in 2014 along with a 'Sport Blue' make-up.

To this day, the meaning behind 'KO' remains a mystery, although some believe it stands for 'Knock Out'. This is the first time since 2014 that Jordan Brand has not released this model in the 'Chicago' colourway. This means you now have the chance to get your hands on these Jordans at retail price again after seven years.

Release Information

The Air Jordan 1 KO 'Chicago' will be published at a cost of approximately €140 sometime in 2021.
