Another new New Balance 990v6 sneaker has surfaced. In 2022, it will be the 40th anniversary of the New Balance 990 Series and still it is a must-have shoe. The MADE in USA 990v5 came out in 2019, which was a huge success. Now we've gotten a sneak peek of the new New Balance creation, the 990v6.
The 990v6
Teddy Santis, the founder of Aimé Leon Dore and the new Creative Director of New Balance MADE in USA, shows the first image of this silhouette on Instagram. The new 990v6 resembles the older 990v5, but there are still many differences. The colour combination consists of the well-known grey tones. The base of this 990v6 consists of mesh with suede overlays. This 990 version has a '990' badge on the heel and a new sole. The sole seems a bit more chunky, which fits the 'dad shoe' trend very well. The toebox, on the other hand, seems to be inspired by a New Balance 992.
Teddy Santis x New Balance
Lately, it is very clear that Teddy Santis never misses the mark. Teddy started Aimé Leon Dore in 2014 and only moved forward. When the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 997 came out in 2019, the two brands knew they had a formula for success on their hands together. That same year they came out with a 990v2 & 990v5, which of course sold out immediately.
In 2020 came the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 827 'Abzorb', originally a running shoe. The same year saw the release of the now famous 550 collaboration, a sequel of which was released this year, to great success. The fact that Teddy Santis has become the new Creative Director of New Balance MADE in USA does not surprise anyone. Santis brings New Balance to the top again!
