Sneakerjagers' Road to Sneaker of the Year
At the end of 2023, we introduced the Sneaker of the Year competition. In the run-up to 2024, we looked back with you at the best releases of the year 2023. Through the Sneakerjagers app, everyone could vote for their favourite in four different rounds. The Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low OG SP 'Olive' took the crown and was the release of the year according to you.
This year, we are taking a slightly different approach!
In Road to Sneaker of the Year, we look at the best releases throughout the year. Every quarter, we select the eight best releases of the season, from unique collaborations to new silhouettes. Through the Sneakerjagers app, you can cast your vote for your favorite. The sneakers from each quarter then compete for the title of 'Sneaker of the Year' at the end of the year.

Top 3 releases Q1
Road to Sneaker of the Year kicked off on April 10, 2024, at noon in the Sneakerjagers app. By voting for your favorite, you not only have a say in determining the preliminary selection for the grand finale in December, but you also have a chance to win your favorite pair in your own size (made possible by StockX).
In the first round, six releases competed against each other. The first quarter of 2024 saw many sneakers released, new collaborations introduced and classic silhouettes brought back. Three clear favorites emerged from the first round. The Air Jordan 4 'Bred Reimagined' took the crown, followed by the Nike Air Max 1 '86 'Royal Blue' and the Air Jordan 4 'Metallic Gold'.
The winner from the first round has also been announced and has been notified by mail of his or her prize won.
Congratulations to the winner: @pixbytallie
Below, you'll find the six releases that competed against each other in the first round. Around July, the best from the second quarter of 2024 will be released. Again, six will be selected, and you can once again vote for your favorite. See you then!
The best releases of 2024 Q1
In the past four months, a lot of unique sneaker designs have been released. From the first collaboration of ASICS and C.P. Company, to the introduction of the Nike Air Max DN - it was an eventful season! Below, we show you the eight best releases selected by Sneakerjagers that marked first quarter 2024.
Air Jordan 4 'Bred Reimagined'
The Air Jordan 4 'Bred Reimagined' appeared on the Nike app in mid-February 2024. The 'Bred' colorway is perhaps one of the most iconic colorways to ever appear on the Jordan. During Michael Jordan's rookie year with the Chicago Bulls, the 'Bred' colorway was introduced on the Air Jordan 1, a colorway that would later be nicknamed 'Banned'.
Some 40 years later, the colorway is still very relevant and made its comeback on the Air Jordan 4 silhouette and with success. The Air Jordan 4 'Bred Reimagined' was received with open arms and definitely deserves a spot in Sneakerjagers Road to Sneaker of the Year.
Daniëlle Cathari x New Balance 991v2 'Matcha' - Made in UK
Earlier this year, New Balance unveiled its collaboration with Dutch designer Daniëlle Cathari. In 2017, Cathari broke through with her reworked adidas tracksuits. Today, she works as creative director for KITH Women. In February 2024, the Daniëlle Cathari x New Balance 991v2 'Matcha' - Made in UK was released.
C.P. Company x Asics Gel-Quantum 360 VIII 'Cement Grey'
Another duo that made its debut in 2024 was that of C.P. Company and ASICS. The Gel-Quantum 360 VIII appeared in two colorways; the 'Cement Grey' and 'Mission Yellow'. The Italian clothing brand is known for their weatherproof and modern designs, which blend all too well with ASICS' DNA.
CLOT x adidas Superstar 'White'
The CLOT x adidas Superstar in the colorway 'White' is the first release from the two brands together. After a long-term collaboration with Nike, founder Edison Chen revealed in 2023 that this collaboration was coming to an end. In early 2024, Nike's biggest competitor appeared with a CLOT collab. The adidas Superstar has a unique look and comes with a chunky outsole that takes inspiration from dress shoes.
Air Jordan 4 WMNS 'Sail & Metallic Gold'
Another Air Jordan 4 from this list is the Air Jordan 4 WMNS 'Sail & Metallic Gold'. Designed specifically for women, the sneaker dropped only in women's sizes. The colorway resembles the well-known Off-White x Air Jordan 4 'Sail' collab from 2020. However, the gold details on the lace tags give this desing a unique twist.
Nike Air Max DN 'Dark Smoke Grey'
Especially for Air Max Day 2024, Nike introduced the Air Max DN; a new silhouette featuring Nike's latest Dynamic Air technology. The new design stands out with its unique and modern look. The Nike Air Max DN appeared in several colorways, but the 'Dark Smoke Grey' was surely the eye-catcher of the collection.
JJJJound x adidas Samba 'Off White'
The designs by design studio JJJJound are easy to recognise with their understated looks and colours. After successful collaborations with brands such as ASICS, New Balance and Reebok, the label came together with adidas at the end of March 2024. The JJJound x adidas Samba 'Off White' arrived in a classic colorway that used premium materials.
Nike Air Max 1 '86 'Royal Blue'
Finally, the Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG WMNS 'Royal Blue' finds its way to the Sneakerjagers' Road to Sneaker of the Year list. Introduced in 2023, the '86 model features an enlarged Air unit compared to its 1987 release. After the release of the 'University Red', fans were already waiting for the other classic Air Max 1 colorway; the 'Royal Blue'.
