Sneakerjagers' Nike SNKRS Day recap - 2023

On September 9, 2023, Nike SNKRS Day took place in London, England. During SNKRS Day, an annual event, Nike organizes various on- and offline activities to bring the community together. In addition to workshops and events, the day also comes with (surprise) sneaker drops. Sneakerjagers was also present this year and reported live from London.

Nike SNKRS Day 2023

Nike's biggest event took place last weekend in the heart of London. The event used to be held on August 8, but as of this year on it got a new date; every second Saturday of September. So, on September 8, the team left for London to report extensively on the run-up to the event and, of course, the day itself.

This year's theme was 'Come Through'. With the theme, Nike wanted to call on the online community to participate in online and offline activities to create a better connection with Nike and the sneaker community. Nike Members were granted access to the event in London. If you were not in the area, you could check into the online Nike SNKRS app and participate in various activities that way.

In addition, the day featured several releases, including the comeback of the Nike Air Footscape. The sneakers were available through the SNKRS app. In addition to the regular releases, there were also surprise drops of the Air Jordan 4 'Red Cement', among others.

Sneakerjagers 'All Access'

Sneakerjagers attended SNKRS Day again this year and had 'All Access' to the event. The Sneakerjagers team participated in the workshops, and activities and attended the talks. Throughout the day, Mats and Nikki spoke with attendees and reported live on all activities via the Sneakerjagers Instagram account (@sneakerjagers). At noon, the day started, and the team was hosted by Nike.

Right at the entrance there was a photobooth with a SNKRS Day theme. Here, attendees could have a photo printed at the well-known SNKRS booth. At a booth of Sneaker LAB, a sustainable sneaker cleaning service from South Africa, you could then have your sneakers cleaned. The day kicked off with SNKRS Live, hosted by SNKRS host AZ (@azcaptures).

The first workshop that was on the program was the styling workshop hosted by Jessy Law in collaboration with Sneakersnstuff. The workshop involved styling the iconic Air Jordan 4 with clothing items from the British sneaker boutique. Between the activities and workshops, you could get food and drinks at various booths or relax on the outdoor terrace. Live music was also played, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

At the Nike SNKRS Day memory game, you had a chance to win unique prizes. Of course, the Sneakerjagers team also participated, and Tommy Triggah brought home a new pair of sneakers. Especially for this unique day, there was also an exhibit set up focusing on the Nike Air Max TN. In the exhibit, you learned more about the history of the iconic silhouette and the cutting-edge technologies used by the sneaker.

Talks and workshops

Inspiring talks were held throughout the day. The first talk was with designer Samuel Ross, also the founder of A COLD WALL. In the talk, the designer explained where he gets his inspiration from. The upcoming collaboration with Nike was also discussed in detail. The A COLD WALL x Nike Air Max Plus drops at the end of September 2023, but was shown briefly during SNKRS Day.

Between talks, the Sneakerjagers team was able to participate in workshops by Greater Goods, a sustainable initiative from England. In the workshop, the initiative showed how old clothing and leftover material can be upcycled into new clothing items. Greater Goods works under the motto "Nothing into Something," which was explained in more detail in the workshop.

The workshop with Greater Goods was followed by a talk with Creative Agency paq, short for Purpose, Authenticity, and Quality. The British initiative focuses on clothing, music, and design; this also came up during the talk with Nike.

The talk was followed by the workshop with BeauBeaus, a London-based family business with a focus on art and creativity. The initiative seeks to connect people with creative minds, and the workshop was the perfect venue for this.

Afterparty

After all the workshops, talks, and activities were completed, the Sneakerjagers team was welcomed to the SNKRS Day Afterparty, where rapper Lancy Fouxx performed. With plenty of drinks, good music, and inspiring people, the day ended in style.

After a successful evening, it was time to return to the Netherlands. On behalf of the Sneakerjagers team, we want to thank Nike enormously for the invitation and the unique day!
