So far, 2022 has been a special year for Air Jordan. Due to production issues caused by Covid-19 pandemic, many pairs that were previously on the calendar are only out this year. This can be seen, for example, in the tags on the Union x Air Jordan 2 'Grey Fog'. This has 'HO21' printed on it, where the 21 stands for the year 2021, but the shoe just came out in 2022.
Speaking of the Jordan 2, the underrated model is getting more and more love this year. For example, two Jordan 2s were made this year in collaboration with Union LA and also one with A Ma Maniére.
Despite the three aforementioned collaborations, it is notable that Jordan Brand relies less on collaborations than before. As a result, we have seen many strong sneaker releases from Jordan Brand on their own in 2022.
Now that the first half of 2022 is almost over, it's a good time to look back at what has been released so far. Therefore, we have already listed our favourite Air Jordans of 2022 so far.
Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Military Black'
We begin the list with Air Jordan 4 Retro 'Military Black'. The pair uses the same as the 'Military Blue' from 2012, but with the colours black, white and grey. The upper is dressed in leather that turns white. Black details can be found on the midsole, heel tab, eyelets and tongue. On the mudguards you will find a grey suede.
Air jordan 1 Retro High OG - Brotherhood
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'Brotherhood' is inspired by the African-American fraternity 'Omega Psi Phi'. This was the fraternity that Michael Jordan belonged to when he played basketball at the University of North Carolina. The purple, white and orange colours on the leather upper are inspired by the colours of the fraternity.
Air Jordan 1 Retro High 85 'Georgetown '
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High 85 'Georgetown' silhouette is nearly identical to the original 1985 release. The leather upper utilizes a classic AJ1 colorblocking with the colours navy and grey. The tongue has been pre-yellowed tint giving it a vintage look. The navy coloured outsole brings the shoe altogether.
Union x Air Jordan 2 Retro SP 'Grey Fog '
The Union x Air Jordan 2 Retro SP 'Grey Fog' is one of the first models that provided a Jordan 2 revival. As the tag on the collar suggests, the sneaker was originally supposed to be released in 2021. Due to production problems, this eventually didn't happen until 2022. Furthermore, the sneaker has a grey suede upper with nylon overlays.
Air Jordan 3 Retro 'Muslin'
The Air Jordan 3 Retro 'Muslin' is a tribute to the six NBA championships that the basketball player has won. The sneaker has a retro look due to the 'Sail' coloured upper, which is made of a sturdy canvas and cement grey suede.
Air Jordan 1 High Element Gore-Tex 'Berry'
The Air Jordan 1 High Element Gore-Tex 'Berry' has an upper that is made of Gore-Tex. This is a waterproof material, keeping your feet dry even in the fiercest storms. On the upper, the colours grey, purple and black are combined. On the outside of the heel is printed 'GORE-TEX', from which you can tell at a glance that it is robust and ready for anything.
Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'Dark Marina Blue'
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG 'Dark Marina Blue' is very reminiscent of the classic AJ1 'Royal Blue'. On both models, the colours blue and black are played with on the leather upper. The white midsole provides a slight contrast, and the blue outsole brings the shoe back together.
Air Jordan 3 Retro 'Cardinal Red'
The Air Jordan 3 Retro 'Cardinal Red' shades mostly white and features a leather upper. On the mudguards you will find the iconic AJ3 'Elephant print'. Furthermore, the sneaker also contains some 'Cardinal' red details such as on the midsole, lace eyelets and collar. The Jumpman logo on the tongue is held in yellow.
