Converse has announced a new collection with designs by the famous artist Keith Haring! On Thursday, 13 May 2021 at 10AM, four different sneakers and a small apparel collection will be released. Converse has put some of the artist's coolest pop art/graffiti designs on their popular models, a few shirts and a bucket hat.
Keith Haring
If the name Keith Haring doesn't ring a bell at first, I'm sure you've seen one of his characteristic works of art somewhere. The US artist lived from 1958-1990 and is considered a representative of 1980s Pop Art.
His painting style is known for the special motifs that become works of art with the help of clear lines and a lot of surface. Haring was also inspired by the graffiti scene for some of his art methods. He came to art early in life and thanks to his father, who painted comic figures with him.
Keith Haring became famous for his Subway Drawings. At that time, many advertising posters hung on fixtures in the New York underground. When these fixtures were empty, however, they had a black background and the artist drew his typical motifs on them with chalk. His works always have more than one meaning and there is more than one way to interpret them. Haring's art is therefore just as diverse as the people who look at it and engage with it.
"Haring's signature Pop Art style embodied the belief that people can change the world through creativity. A driving force in Haring's career was to ensure that his work not only advocated for the oppressed by uplifting them, but that it remained accessible to all. The same is true today."

Keith Haring X Converse Chuck Taylor 'White' | 171858C
For the first time, Haring's iconic drawings will now appear on Converse silhouettes. We can look forward to a Chuck in High and Low, as well as the Run Star Hike version and the Pro Leather. The sneaker designs showcase Haring's art and pay homage to his signature chalk paintings on the empty billboards of the New York City underground.
This Chuck 70 High is quite subtle. The upper is made of organic canvas in white and comes with embroidered, mainly black graphics on the side. Red accents have also been chosen here and there for extra contrast and we see his signature pop art figures. Black laces complete the look. The Tongue also features Keith Haring's branding. You can get them for €100.
Keith Haring X Converse Chuck Taylor Low 'White' | 171860C
The low version of the Chuck is also part of the new collection. Here it is a little more exciting and the print covers the entire upper. Again, we see a white base with black and red figures. White laces, a white sole and the typical Converse branding in black and red on the tongue round off the sneaker. The Keith Haring x Converse Chuck Low will cost you €70.
Keith Haring X Converse Run Star 'Black' | 171859C
Distinctive style and progressive art. The Run Star Hike is also part of the homage to Keith Haring. Here we see a black upper with white figures and red elements. The distinctive sole of the shoe also bears this colour blocking. An absolute statement shoe, what do you say? The shoes have a price tag of €120.
Keith Haring X Converse Pro Leather Low 'All Over' | 171860C
Last but not least, we have the Converse Pro Leather for you. Similar to the Chuck Low, the print covers the entire upper, but the motifs are a little larger. Haring's signature is printed in red on the heel of this design and, together with classic Pro Leather details in black, makes the look an absolute eye-catcher. Cost: €90.
Do you have a favourite? The Converse x Keith Haring collection will be launched on 13 May 2021 at 10:00 am. You can find more upcoming sneaker drops in our release calendar.
In addition to the four sneakers, a small apparel collection is also being released, consisting of three T-shirts and a bucket hat. These pieces also feature the artist's artwork and come in the same colour palette as the kicks. You can also buy these products from 13 May 2021.
