After names like Edison Chen, BAPE, The Shoe Surgeon, and StockX, RSVP Gallery can now also be added to the list of companies facing lawsuits from Nike. The Chicago-based retailer, founded by Virgil Abloh and Don C, has been sued for failing to pay an outstanding invoice.
The amount in question is $190,191.95 plus interest for products delivered to RSVP Gallery.
Nike vs. Don
Nike continues its string of lawsuits. According to legal documents shared by @SneakerLegal on X, Donald Crawley Jr., better known as Don C, still owes Nike a significant amount.
On paper, it’s purely a business matter, but the case still seems a bit harsh. Don C, together with Virgil Abloh, played a major role in Nike’s current network of collaborations. He connected Nike with Off-White, Easy Otabor, and Aleali May. He was also responsible for the revival of the Air Jordan 2 with his 2015 collab, considered by many as one of the best sneaker releases of that year.
According to sources in the scene, Nike had promised Don C multiple Air Jordan 2 collaborations, but few materialized. He did release the Jordan Legacy 312 and a model for the Air Force 100 campaign in 2017.
Since his last collaboration with his label Just Don and Converse, it has been relatively quiet around the designer. During Paris Fashion Week, he presented his first collaboration with Brooks, which may not have sat well with Nike.
Don C has not yet responded to the lawsuit. Knowing Nike, the company will likely try to reach a settlement this time as well, but nothing is certain.
